Went for a walk in the woods over the weekend with my mom to collect moss and bark for terrariums and indoor gardening. It was almost dark and really cold and just so very nice to be spending some time with my mom in the woods, kind of like being a kid again.

These two terrariums are for my kids, an advent suprise for the first day of December.
Can't believe December 1st is tomorrow!

Three pies for Thanksgiving this year. This one is apple, made by my daughter and I. Still have to make a pumpkin and a pecan pie this afternoon with my son. Everyone wants a turn to make their favorite pie. Just so glad they want to do it!

I'm gonna be having a sale in my shop starting Friday. Check back then for details.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Finally finished painting this doll house over the weekend and brought it up to my studio. It's still a bit sparse at the moment, but that's okay. It's a work in progress.

The new Holiday Market starts today on Poppytalk Handmade. My shop is there. And there are so many other nice ones to visit too. I could spend all day browsing! Go have a look and please consider buying handmade gifts for the holidays. Thank you!

This week I:
sewed 11 grainsack pillows
sewed 11 lavender pillows
finished knitting a scarf
cleaned my studio
took hundreds of product photos, most of them bad
updated my shop
cooked dinner twice
met friends for dinner once
had sushi for lunch with my husband
watched the season finale of Bored to Death

This week I did not:
pay enough attention to my kids

This weekend I hope to:
go for a long bike ride
eat dumplings in Chinatown
fold some laundry
make some version of cheese fondue for dinner and eat it with crusty bread
see some old friends
vacum the house
pay attention to my kids

How about you? Have a good weekend!

Lots of red outside, lots of red in the studio. I did a big shop update today, new pillows, new clothespeg dolls. I have some new scarves too, I hope I will get a chance to put them in the shop tomorrow.

Scenes from the weekend. Kind of a typical late fall weekend for us. Lots of time outside, but then some time indoors for playing with legos and cooking. Kids get to choose what gets made for breakfast on Sunday. This time it was scones. It's what my mom used to make for my brother and I on Sundays too, same recipe. It works every time.

I've been doing lots of sewing for Pod lately. It's been really fun, because Julie has been providing me with both the patterns and the fabric ( gorgeous vintage stuff, of course) and I just have to sew! So far, we've collaborated on some adorable stuffed bird hanging ornaments (no photos, sorry) and then these pillows pictured here made from vintage Indian saris. Julie has been stuffing the birds with a mixture of dried lavender and rose. They smell amazing. Then the pillows get stuffed with lavender and kapok (buckwheat hull). Also amazing. You can see and smell all the finished products over at Pod in Brookline Village. Worth the trip, I'm telling you.
UPDATE: From the comments it looks like you all think I did the tiny handstitching on these! No way! Sorry to lead you on. The handstitching is done by lovely people in India as they are sewing the layers of saris together. I just sew the fabric into pillows on my sewing machine.

It's that time of year when I start shamelessly promoting all the holiday shows I am doing. Lucky for me, there is no shame in posting these lovely invitations designed by Angela Liguori for our show together. The top invite is for our 2010 show together at Michelle Willey, a two day trunk show in the South End of Boston December 11 and 12. Please come see us! We would love to meet you! Not to be confusing, but I wanted to include last year's 2009 invite in this post as well, because the two make such a lovely series together. So mark your calendars.....

No school today. Stopped by Sofra for a take away afternoon treat. Chocolate hazelnut baklava goes well with clementines and mint tea.

I've been in my studio the last three days. Lots of cutting and sewing and pretty scraps left over.
I ordered a 2011 calendar from Flora Douville. My package came with these lovely little cards.
Thank you Flora, I love the calendar and the cards!

It's been so gray and dreary here for the last five days, maybe six days. I can't remember anymore! Good days for soups and salads. Last week sweet potato and squash soup, this week garbanzo bean. There are few leaves left on the trees, but amazingly, some roses are still blooming. There's a story that goes with this rose bush. Every day a neighbor walks by with his little daughter and he lifts her up to smell the roses. Sometimes I spy them out the window. So cute! I am so glad they enjoy them.

Back to work! I've been working the last two weeks on new things for my shop, I hope to update soon. I've also listed some holiday shows on my sidebar. More to come in the next week or so too as dates firm up. Happy Monday!

Lisbon

Got to spend the last day of our trip walking around Lisbon. What a nice city. I love the old buildings, the tile work, just the feel of a city right on the ocean. A good way to end a great trip.
Hope you all have a nice weekend, and thank you for sharing my adventure!
Next week, back to regular life around here.

Last of Roma. Thank you for looking! Tomorrow, one last stop: Lisbon.
