downtown sunset

Pink sky...that's what happens on a very cold evening in New York.
It's fun to watch this evolve.

New York City

New York was fabulous! Very cold, lots of walking, lots of eating, lots of sightseeing. I thought I would have tons of photos to show you, but because it was so cold and we were with the kids, it just wasn't the time to stop and take photos...we had to keep things moving! But we managed to do and see so many things and I hope the kids will have fond memories of our trip. I know I will.
Except for the fact that our car broke down on our way back to Boston. Time to get a new car.

early monday morning

The kids have school vacation this week, and we are hanging out at home today. We made puffed apple pancake (p. 649 The Gourmet Cookbook, 2004) for breakfast. No pictures of it because it was eaten too fast!

somewhere in france

Back to France. Provence this time. The town of Arles. A beautiful, romantic place filled with Roman ruins and Van Gogh's artwork. Happy Valentine's Day tomorrow!
There should be a new project starting here later today.

somewhere in portugal

In Porto. I loved the tilework on the facades of the buildings and their old, crumbly, state of decay. Sounds strange, but trust me, if you go, you will find it beautiful. I remember all the food there was delicious. Homey comfort food like roast chicken and kale and potato soup, and fish stew. And some port after dinner, if you like that sort of thing. I do.
Speaking of food, I found this via Smosch.
And thank you to Michelle for posting about this bag on her lovely blog.
p.s. you can check out her shop too, which is filled beautiful, unique jewelry.

I've started a quiet spot over here. No words, just pictures.
There are still sweet and pretty valentines gifts over in my shop!

Look at all these olives! Taken in Dijon in 1999. We went to France for three weeks that time.
Spring/Summer Sally Scott collection is here.

somewhere in spain

Taken on a trip to Spain years ago. Somewhere in the western part of Andalucia, I think. I loved the white villages there. I've been browsing our old travel photos, thinking of past trips, dreaming of future ones. I'll post a photo each day this week of places we've been. Have a good start to the week!

6th folder, 6th photo

My friend Raphaelle of Artycho tagged me to post the 6th photo from my 6th photo file.

Here it is: my favorite Christmas tree ornament! It's still sitting on my mantle because I like to look at it all winter.

little girl stuff

Very girly, don't you think? Now my daughter is tired of the pink walls in her bedroom and wants to change to blue. I'm getting out my paintbrush again...and I do love blue.

snowing

It's snowing again in that gray, mysterious way of February. Loving everything about this.

vintage valentines

My shop is now filled with Valentine's gifts. Zip bags to hold little treasures, lavender pillows that smell so sweet, bookmarks to make you smile when you open your favorite book. I just can't resist vintage fabrics...there's something so special and unique about them, the colors, the patterns, the softness. I had so much fun making them all.
