We went to Halibut Point in Rockport, MA on a cloudy day last week. The tide was coming in and the waves were crashing around dramatically. We had a little picnic of roast chicken, french bread and cheese. And some grocery store cupcakes with sprinkles on top. The kids spent hours jumping over the huge pieces of granite that make up the waterfront and getting frighteningly close to the edge of the ocean as only kids know how to do.

Take care in the hurricane this weekend if you are on the East Coast. Strangely enough, I just finished reading Zeitoun by Dave Eggers about Hurricane Katrina, so hurricanes have been on my mind. Stay safe, people!

Hi! I've been visiting family in non-urban places. We've been doing lots of swimming, biking, eating, relaxing. My mom's garden has brilliantly colored flowers. Now I'm at our little summer house near the marsh where the view looks like the painting above. More photos soon!
