Today is the last day of September, and honestly, I feel a bit sad that it went by so quickly this year. It's a beautiful month and we were so busy rushing around, starting school, etc. that I let it slip away without noticing it.

I've been working on some new fall banners for my shop. I will add them when I get the photos just right.
Today: very busy, moving quickly from one activity to the next. Sun is shining. Have a good day!

Fabric, baskets, table, all flea market finds from the weekend. I'm liking all these brown wood tones with white and cream. I finally finished my vest!
I just read the New Yorker article (September 20th issue) about fashion blogger Tavi. Quite an amazing story.

This was the last weekend of being in our summer house. The marsh is turning from brilliant green to faded yellow. Summer is over now, I think. I'm ready for fall, really. But it was nice to have one last sunny, warm evening here too.
Thank you to those of you who bought clothespeg dolls over the weekend! There are two left in the shop!

I added some new clothespeg ladies to the shop. I will make more in a few weeks dressed in tweeds and plaids, but this first set I wanted to just be simple and elegant, maybe a little more city than country.

This weekend I'm looking forward to: a night out with friends, a 40th birthday party to attend, a bit of reading, maybe a flea market. What I really want to do is go apple picking in a beautiful orchard. But that may have to wait for the next weekend, just don't think we can squeeze anything more into this one.

Have a good weekend, whatever you are doing.

Although I'm feeling nostalgic about the countryside in autumn, I love being around my house in the city, enjoying the little details I missed over the summer. Like sitting on my back porch having tea at lunchtime and reading a magazine. Getting back into the routine of life here again.

Seeing shades of purple everywhere! Weather has been perfect for days. It's so nice to be outside now.

Happy first day of Autumn!

Another lovely weekend spent at Squam Lake. The Art Fair was fantastic and it was great to see old friends and make new ones. There were so many great vendors and customers.
New to me were Diana Fayt and Jennifer Cooke. I really enjoyed meeting them and checking out their beautiful work.
And I got to hang out with my dear friends, Susy and Angela and their families. So nice!
Check out this book about the Squam Art Worshops. I had to have a copy!

Finishing up some projects this week, I transplanted my raggedy collection of summer geraniums to the same planter and threw out the dead ones. That felt good!
Then I've had some time to work on this vest I started at the end of August. It's almost all knitted and when I'm done, I'm going to start a project from this fall Rowan book.
Time to switch out the summer stripey blue pillows for autumn ones. Just not sure which ones yet. I may make some new ones out of an old cream wool blanket.
Took these ladies out of storage, they are ones I made for myself out of less than perfect clothespegs. Some new ones will be in the shop next week. Have a great weekend!

* update: just rereading this post, it makes me sound much more ambitious than i actually am. take it with a grain of salt...and do have a good weekend!

All flea market finds for the doll house. I just need to paint on the final coat and then it will be ready to move it my studio. I've got some new clothespeg dolls in the works and they need a house to live in!

The light is so nice this morning. It's early. The kids are off to school. I really want to remember how calm it feels in this moment.
