friday

I'm really glad it's Friday. This has been a long week. Finally, warm sunny weather this afternoon. We sat in our back patio and played some cards. Lilacs are in bloom and I finally remembered to cut some for inside. Left them out during our card game though because they were smelling so good.

I wish you a wonderful weekend!

flag day

Hi! Are you all having a good week? I've been working on these little flag banners this week, made from scraps of vintage ticking and grain sack. I just can't seem to throw these scraps away, even the tiny ones, and now I'm glad I've held on to them.

I'm not really sure what I'm going to do with them. Perhaps offer them for sale at my next show, which is coming up on June 5th at Squam. Or maybe I'll just keep them to send off to friends. I've been working on spring lavender pillows too, and must finish those up next week.

I've put more canvas bags on sale too at $40 each, just in case you need a mother's day present!
Another one on sale here too.

strawberry rhubarb

Busy week last week, busy weekend. But I did manage to make a strawberry rhubarb pie. It's gone now, but it was good while it lasted!

I'm working on some fun little projects this week, I'll show you in the next few days.

bag lady

I've been working on new lightweight, foldable, take everywhere tote bags. I made a bunch of these last spring, sold out and am now offering some new ones in a variety of vintage floral patterns. I just listed a few in my shop. They are $25 each, $10 less than last year. They make nice mother's day and bridesmaids gifts!

i heart monday

I'm guest blogging over on Bliss today doing the I heart Monday post. EEEKKK! I've always loved reading Traci's Monday lists, so it was really fun to put one together of my own, relying heavily on my favorite vintage Etsy and Japanese shops.
These photos have nothing to do with I heart Monday. Just gratuitous spring blossom shots!

banners

Last Friday in a fit of late afternoon inspiration I made these banners, using up some scraps of my favorite vintage fabrics. They are hanging on the wall in my studio now, just looking cheerful. I was going to show you some bags I have been working on this week, but it's rainy today, not a good day for photos. So now it's back to the sewing machine to finish up another bag.

Rhubarb over at 3191 this afternoon. Mmmm....

new grain sack pillows

I finally got some shop worthy photographs of the pillows yesterday. I'm doing a new size of grain sack pillow for spring, all 14 x 18, $90 each.

This vintage grain sack fabric is coming from Europe and has such beautiful character to it. Farmers used it to carry seeds and grain, so it is soft from years of use, yet incredibly sturdy. I love how these pillows look old fashioned and modern at the same time!

All available in my etsy shop.
Just saw that my shop was included in a lovely post on Modish. Thank you Jena!
And also on the readymade blog. Thank you Jane!

poppytalk handmade market

There's a new Poppytalk Handmade Market opening today! Green-Pop, and eco-themed market celebrates all things sustainable, recycled, repurposed and handmade. My shop is there as well as many other nice ones. These caught my eye at first browse, but I'm sure I'll find more on the next look around.

birthday

This guy is always in motion. He is fun to have around. Happy 8th birthday, Will!
Just like last year, we will make sushi for dinner and chocolate cake for dessert.

Single stems in vintage bottles. Once the big bouquet is drooping, I take the ones that have a little life left in them, trim them down and place them each in a tiny bottle of their own. Seems to make them last a bit longer. And then it's easier to appreciate their individual beauty too.

Got another birthday cake to make. My son's 8th birthday is tomorrow!

Swedish summer houses over on Fine Little Day.

it's spring

I officially feel like it's spring. I'm doing my taxes today and tomorrow. It's that time of year too. Be back later in the week!

blue sky

Have a nice weekend and a happy Easter if you celebrate it! No school today, kids fighting, got a birthday cake to bake, eggs to dye (first batch all cracked while boiling, @$%!#&*!!), food to buy, bathroom to clean, parents arriving on my doorstep, and it's beautiful outside.
Got to get outside soon!
