Contrasts

We went to visit my parents this weekend. Only one and a half hours north from us and they still have so much snow. It's hard to believe we were some place warm, collecting shells on the beach just a few weeks ago. Have a good start to the week, everyone.

Brand New Bags

Four new hobo bags to add to my shop, all in printed cotton canvas. These are sturdy spring/summer bags, great for bringing to the market, the beach, or just around town. I love the bright happy patterns!

Have a look here for some amazing artist interviews, found via Cup of Jo. And even though my children are too big to wear these clothes, I can't stop looking at this lovely Etsy shop, found over here.

Have a nice weekend everyone.

Spring Wear

I do this every year. I get so excited about spring that I can't resist buying spring clothes that I won't actually be able to wear for a few more months. Then they sit there teasing me! But at least the colors cheer me up. I bought these two dresses, and I swear I'm not buying anything else until the warm weather comes.

Also, I am obsessing over the color yellow. I made this bag yesterday. It's going into my Etsy shop next week, but only after I am sure I have enough fabric to make one for myself too. I've got a bunch of new bags to show you tomorrow. Stay tuned!

Inspired by

I'm inspired by my children's art today. Watercolor painting and chalkboard drawing by Lucy. Window art dinosaurs by Will. We recently renovated our kitchen and dining room and one of our favorite additions to the new space is our chalkboard wall. It has provided hours of entertainment so far.

Speaking of inspiration, have you seen Karin's house (of Eddy and Edwina) on the Cookie Magazine website? What a nice home she has!

And also, today is my mom's birthday! Happy Birthday Mom if you are reading this!

All this inspiration makes me want to sew, so I'm off to do just that.

Let There Be Light

The light has really changed here now...it's spring light, even though the temperature outside is still cold. There are rays of sunlight streaming through my kitchen windows now. Of course it helps that we have been having lots of sunny days recently. Here are a few sunny places around my house. This last photo is not my house, just a random doorway I discovered on my walk.

I have been enjoying reading this since I happened upon it a few weeks ago. Maybe you've already discovered it. I'm fascinated by other people's home renovations and Manteli's writing and photography is wonderful.

I discovered this yesterday through nectar and light. Really sweet and creative!

Spring Flowers

After eating all morning yesterday we went for a long Easter day walk with the kids and discovered that the crocuses are finally up.

This has been much blogged about, but if you haven't seen it yet, check it out. I hope I'll be able to get a copy when it comes out!

Our cousins were with us on our trip. With four kids on a boat, playing pirates and princesses was a great source of entertainment. Happy weekend to everyone and Happy Easter to all who are celebrating!

More bright colors and Caribbean prettiness from Falmouth Harbour in Antigua. I'm off to sew. I'm going to be updating my Etsy shop next week. Tomorrow: Pirates of the Caribbean.

On Board

Top Photo: my mother-in-law's sprouted coconut plant
Second Photo: fresh water containers
Third Photo: rope
Fourth: Will in hammock
Last Photo: beach finds

We spent most of our trip anchored off Falmouth Harbour in Antigua. We could swim off the boat, but there was also a beautiful beach a short dingy ride away. Tomorrow I will post pictures of our trips into town. I'm so glad I have these bright, sunny pictures to look at, because as I post this it's snowing outside.

Returned

I'm back from Antigua, after a relaxing week in the sun with family. We went to stay with my husband's parents who live on a boat during the winter. What a life! I'll be posting pictures from our trip all week. I'm looking forward to catching up with all my favorite blogs and seeing all the creative things you have been doing while I've been away!

Going Away

We're going on vacation for a week or so to Antigua.
I'll be bringing these.
And these.
And collecting more of these.
I'll be back in a week or so with lots of pictures and stories from our trip. Happy weekend everyone and a good week to you all too.

Made For Me

I've done a lot more sewing this week and made this bag for myself out of the end of a roll of vintage French linen. My inspiration came from Fog Linen found via Marie. I love all the Japanese fabric and clothing sites Marie finds!

I've also made some bags this week for a local designers show at History. Although I won't be there because I'll be on vacation, my friend Alanna from Toby and Rei has kindly offered to bring some of my bags with her to the show. Alanna has an adorable children's clothing line and a cool blog. This new line of beautiful clothing, J'aime Colette will also be there. If you're in Cambridge check it out!
