cool, calm, and collected

Cool: because it's always cool at night.
Calm: because that's how I feel when I'm here.
Collected: because other than a few things from Ikea, almost everything here has been collected from the flea market up the road or family cast-off's.
Enjoy! I'll have more photos tomorrow and hopefully some links...school is out soon here and I'm racing to get some things done before my free mornings no longer exist.

It's interesting, this feeling about old things from the family, I like how they are old and yet nice, they survive us and thus they are somewhat better then us. They are still around, they just pass their existence on different people.

I surely enjoyed. I liked the first photo particularly, it looks so calm & beautiful. And lovely matryoshkas! We have some "old family things" at the attic, waiting if we some day have a summer house where to place them..

Thanks Diana, I still have yet to try the photo edit link you posted on your blog...maybe tomorrow I will try!

Bohemian girl, I love how objects get passed down through families too, and that the objects have a life beyond the original owners. The things I have inherited from my grandparents and great grandparents keep their memories alive for me.

Hi Stardust, I love matryoshkas, and never had one as a child. This one I bought at the flea market and couldn't resist how old and faded and loved it looked!

Hi Esti!

Oh goodness am I jealous of this beautiful place...this would make trips to see my inlaws not nearly as unbearable (I am sure yours are perfectly lovely).

Hi Mrs. French, yes, my in-laws are lovely, but it's nice to have our own space there.

Hi Ester, thanks for visiting! I just visited your blog and left you a comment over there. It is lovely, by the way, and so fun to see how life is over in Italy!!

My grandma visited Soviet Union regularly when I was small, and she brought me those matryoshkas (+amber jewellery). Some I've lost, some I still have. And she is turning 95 this month!

Thanks Erin!

Happy Birthday to Grandmother Stardust this month. 95 years is amazing! I think I remember seeing matryoshkas on your blog sometime too? I'd love to see more sometime.

Sounds like my kind of decorating. The bedroom is very inviting.
