up north

My aunt and uncle and lots of my cousins live way up in northern New Hampshire, in the White Mountains. When my brother and I were little, we used to spend at least two weeks every summer visiting our cousins. It was idyllic, swimming in the ponds, exploring the woods, walking up the mountain paths, playing in the streams. My aunt and uncle always had lots of animals too: chickens, pigs, a few cows, and best of all, big old draft horses that were willing to let us sit on their backs while they plodded along grazing on the summer grass.

Now, my cousin and his wife have built this amazing house themselves and live here with their two children. I love the view from their living room: just pure wildflowers.

It seems like if you visit your cousin every summer from now on your children will have the same great memories than you have from your childhood. It's so good to revisit our past. At least that's how it's been feeling like to me since a couple of years ago when I decided to have our summer vacation at the same village my family has stayed at since I was born.
New Hampshire countryside looks gorgeus; a wonderfulplace to raise kids and enjoy the view. A lovely house indeed.

Hi Esti, yeah, I was thinking the same thing...how important it is to revisit special places from childhood. Cool that you have been going back to the village of your childhood vacations as well! Your kids must love it too...mine did not want to go home after that weekend with the cousins!
