In two weeks she'll be ten. She's got so many interests now: playing the piano, writing, drawing, swimming, reading, the school musical. Sometimes she's moody, sometimes she's sweet. In her face I can see a little glimpse of who she will be in ten more years. But right now I don't want her to grow up too fast.

She's lovely - and looks a lot like you! I hope the years don't rush by too quickly for you both!
She's beautiful - and she does look a lot like you..! I love the photos, Jill. And your words... It's funny, I just had a similar maternal moment yesterday...

Oh - 10 is HUGE! I remember turning 10 and I don't remember much at all from childhood so it must have been huge. She is so pretty....I love that you can get a glimpse now of the person she will be. I think it is exciting. But yes, not too fast with that ;)
She is lovely and the last photograph is especially amazing. She looks so wise for her less than 10 years. She must have a great mom.
I also have a daughter, almost ten. I was just talking with friends yesterday about how they seem to find their little niches right about now --whether it's music or sports or art. It's quite exciting. They are treasures --even when they are moody! Love this post. Best to you.
she's a pretty girl. She looks determine, I wonder.
Sometimes I wish my girls didn't grow up so fast. And ten sounds so big!!
jane and maria, yes she looks like me a bit, but actually much more like my husband. it's my son who really looks just like me. funny how the genes travel from parents to children!
rebekah and esti, i know, 10 seems huge to me too...i know you ladies have kids a bit younger and 10 seemed so far away when she was 4 or 6. just crazy how it sneaks up on you.
denise, she's wise, but mostly still so innocent :)
i count dandelions,
i'm really enjoying this age too(despite some moodiness). you are right, the girls are finding their niches right now. i hope these niches will carry them safely through adolescence or at least give them a beacon to go by!
My girl is only 3.5 but I swear I see 10 in her eyes already. Lovely blog.
Turning ten! Oh! I remember little of turning ten other than I was terribly excited to enter double digits.
Happy Birthday cheer to all. (belatedly)
She is such a naturally pretty girl Jill! I knew you had a daughter, but I didn't realize you had a baby that old...it's nice to catch a glimpse. And yes, ten! does seem old to me now... we hung out with two 6 month olds today and I had that "oh no! where did my baby go?!" feeling as he towered over them.
fleeting...
thank you denise! 3.5 is such a cute age, when girls still love wearing pink skirts and striped tights. at the time i was sick of pink and princesses, but now i miss those little outfits!
hi gracia...yes, lucy has mentioned being excited about double digits too in just those words. what is strange to me is that i remember being 10 and it doesn't seem like it was that long ago. of course it was though!
hi liz, yeah my kids are old, which means i'm old too :) ha!
isn't it funny when a one year old suddenly seems like the big kid around babies? it's all relative. my son is 7 and i keep thinking he is still the little kid, but then i see him around kindergarteners and he seems like a giant.
