I've been doing lots of sewing for Pod lately. It's been really fun, because Julie has been providing me with both the patterns and the fabric ( gorgeous vintage stuff, of course) and I just have to sew! So far, we've collaborated on some adorable stuffed bird hanging ornaments (no photos, sorry) and then these pillows pictured here made from vintage Indian saris. Julie has been stuffing the birds with a mixture of dried lavender and rose. They smell amazing. Then the pillows get stuffed with lavender and kapok (buckwheat hull). Also amazing. You can see and smell all the finished products over at Pod in Brookline Village. Worth the trip, I'm telling you.
UPDATE: From the comments it looks like you all think I did the tiny handstitching on these! No way! Sorry to lead you on. The handstitching is done by lovely people in India as they are sewing the layers of saris together. I just sew the fabric into pillows on my sewing machine.

Hope you don't mind me asking, what's the technique you use called? It looks fantastic.

Thanks ladies! I love reading your nice comments and feel a bit bad that you all thought I did that incredible tiny stitching. Credit goes to a group of unknown ladies (or perhaps men) in India. I thought about all their labor as I was working with this fabric...totally incredible all that handwork!
