Roman: part one

After five days of biking in Tuscany, we spent the last three days in Rome, just the two of us, walking from one end of the city to the other. Having seen the Renaissance and Vatican art before, we skipped the indoor museums and churches and just wandered, seeking out as many outdoor Roman ruins as we could find. Lots of stops for gelato and coffee and long Roman lunches too, thanks to Angela's Roma city guide over on Design Sponge.
In contrast to the subtle beauty of the Tuscan landscape, Rome is colorful and multilayered with history and architecture, so many centuries and civilizations jumbled on top of one another, endlessly inspiring.

Gorgeous! Sounds like the perfect mix of country and urban.

Did I walk past you in Rome and didn't even know it? We just got back from our 5 week tour of Italy on Oct 27. Love your photos. Between the three of us we took almost a thousand pictures so I am slowly going through and posting them on my blog. Ciao.

Oh my beautiful Roma, how much I miss you! Thank you jill for letting me see it through your eyes, can't wait to be back. The color of the buildings, are they amazing?
I'm glad the guide helped during your trip!
