looking around the kitchen

I'm really happy to be back in my own kitchen after a month away. Sometimes cooking can be a drag, but most times for me it's a pleasure. I have to be honest and tell you that a lot of my cooking is not well received by my children, but my husband usually loves it. And I love that. Happy weekend. By the way, what's your favorite thing to cook?

Passion tea....I forgot about it...used to be a favorite...I must go out and buy some more. I love to cook soup, soup and more soup. The best part about fall if you ask me (oh and boots and sweaters too). Welcome home my dear.

Summer apples, that is what the green and red ones are called here. They are sour and ripen in the autumn. They will waiting for me to turn them into juice, sweet or eat them just like that.

Nice still pictures. I like the tranquility they transmit. It's good to be back to a quiet kitchen, but if you ask me, I don't know how to cook a single thing. I'm useless... and spoilt...

all that fruit is making me jealous :)
I think my favourite thing to cook is a spicy chinese fish soup, so easy but sooooo tasty! and I think it's just about time to start cooking again with all this miserable weather we're having over here...

Wow, I love Tazo tea...I like the one called 'Calm'...usually I drink it at work for good reasons. I love cooking too. My favorite thing is making steamed halibut with a mango salsa. So GOOD! Your photos really make me realize that autumn is here with all the fruit harvest in. Glad you are home and enjoying that feeling that comes with 'coming home'.

Beautiful kitchen photos...

My favourite thing to prepare has to be a hearty veggie & bean soup. Roughly cut veggies and plenty of spice... easy to cook and tasty to eat.

see you, g

Oh, thanks everyone for telling me what you like to cook!! You've really inspired me with your comments.

Mrs. French, I'm with you on the soup. What's your favorite kind to cook? I'm torn between homemade tomato, butternut squash, and a provencal fish soup. I'm also with you on the boots and sweaters. It's still to warm here to wear either.

Bohemian girl, I love apples too, and eat one everyday with lunch. Do you make apple juice or apple cider? Apple cider is big here in New England in the fall. And then of course, there's apple pie.

Esti, it's fine that you don't like to cook! I have many friends who hate cooking. I come from a long line of women who love cooking, so I don't know any other way...my brother loves to cook too, as does my husband. And now Will is saying he wants to be a chef when he grows up...it's hard to escape cooking in my family :) But if you don't cook, it leaves a nice amount of time to pursue other things!!

Raining sheep, I drink "Calm" Tazo too :) Steamed halibut with mango salsa sounds awesome! I'm inspired to try that one.

Ester, I'm not much of a bread maker...I'm always in awe of people who are good at making bread. What kind do you usually bake?

Gracia, I love those hearty types of soup too...just perfect for an autumn day.

Famapa, your spicy Chinese fish soup sounds delicious. Any chance I could get the recipe?

Hmmm, I like making stir fries. Cutting up a variety of vegetables and making just the right sauce that I'm in the mood for :-)

Beautiful photos!! They inspire me to bake a pie :) My favorite thing to make...although this is not considered cooking...is Moroccan mint tea. No other drink or food in the world makes me happier :)

My favorite thing to cook would perhaps be Chinese porridge -- it takes an entire day, but the end result is quite delicious.

Famapa's spicy Chinese fish soup sounds delicious too!

Hi Angie, we make a lot of stir fries around here too. My favorite easy stir fry sauce is adding oyster sauce right from the bottle. Lazy, but delicious.

Grace, Chinese porridge sounds good too...I've probably never had the real thing, and now I'm curious. And I love mint tea too. Do you add sugar to yours?
