Just the beginning of things starting to grow and turn green again. Since it's pouring rain today, that will help things along on the next sunny day. Our lilac is starting to get buds, and when those blossom it's my favorite smell ever.

I took a quick walk through my neighborhood garden center yesterday, keeping my eye out for new things that might be fun to grow this year. I'm thinking I'd like to grow more herbs in pots this summer and maybe try planting some lettuce in pots as well. Anyone out there ever had any luck with that? I've never been much good at growing vegetables, only flowers.

This afternoon, green tea and dark chocolate to get me through the rainy weather.

I grow herbs (basil, rosemary, parsley, origanum, marjoram etc) in pots. Usually I get the little starter plants at the garden shop and just mix them up together in two pots. They are easy and I should think you'll have luck since your flowers thrive.

Nice colours and truly springy. Its amazing how little things like plants make me happy and blabber on!

I grow herbs on my windowsill. You just want to be sure that you put together the ones that like the same conditions: basil, cilantro, tarragon, and parsley all love water and sun. The Mediterranean herbs (chives, oregano, sage, rosemary, thyme, bay, marjoram, and lavender) like dry soil.

Otherwise, it's plain sailing!

thank you, jane. i really appreciate the growing advice. i bought a bunch of plants and seeds this weekend, but i still need to buy herbs. (i will soon, though) i'm glad you advised me about separately planting the dry loving herbs and the water loving herbs. i would not have known to do that, and it makes perfect sense.
