saturday evening, sunday morning
Despite the rain, we managed to do a lot of things this weekend:
Took a trip to the Museum of Fine Arts
Had Saturday lunch in Chinatown
Made bread
Taught Lucy to knit
Watched a movie with the kids
Got half way through knitting a scarf for myself
Ate pancakes
Drank wine
A good weekend overall! How was yours?

lunch, yesterday
Baby pak choy and acorn squash from the farmer's market (all organic, yay!) sauteed with crispy shallots and a hard boiled egg. And a glass of ayran from the Turkish market. And a piece of pecan baklava in the corner there, but I didn't actually eat that. It was my daughter's left over piece from the night before. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. The rain is torrential here and will be for the next few days. See you back here on Monday!

fall flowers
Our garden is still blooming with roses, hydrangea, lavender and russian sage. I'm loving these deeper shades of red, pink, and purple.
A Year of Mornings: 3191 Miles Apart arrived in the mail yesterday. It is such a lovely book! Mav's Port2Port and Stephanie's Little Birds were the first two blogs I ever read, and their work inspired me to eventually start my own blog. I still check in with 3191 daily.
On Monday, I noticed there's a brand new exciting collaboration going on between Famapa and Sandra right here. Take a peek if you have the chance!

road to nowhere
This week has been incredibly unproductive for me. I'm making a small list here of things I have done, just to make myself feel better.
took the kids to swimming lessons
made panna cotta (it was really good)
read my camera manual, finally
wrote a thank you note to my sister-in-law for sending me a lovely pair of earrings
took some strange self portrait photos after reading my camera manual
started reading a biography of Alice Waters (fascinating!)
tried to work on editing photos for some upcoming projects, but really got nowhere, hence the frustration of having an unproductive week
Are some weeks just like this??? I've decided to not even try to do anything else today work related, and instead will browse here for a little while. Then I'm off to pick up the kids from school. Next week I will sew. And take some real photos. And be much more productive.

fall boots
Somehow I justified buying two new pairs of boots. I did need a pair of rain boots. I did not need a pair of suede boots, but I bought them anyway.
Anu passed along a sweet award to me last week. Thank you, Anu! Instead passing the award to a few, I'm just going to suggest that you check out any or all of the blogs I've listed on my sidebar. I've recently added lots and they are all wonderful, so read away!

pillow talk
Grace from Poetic Home featured my Nautical Stripe Pillows on her blog today, along with a nice selection of other vintage fabric pillows from Etsy. Thank you, Grace!

looking around the kitchen
I'm really happy to be back in my own kitchen after a month away. Sometimes cooking can be a drag, but most times for me it's a pleasure. I have to be honest and tell you that a lot of my cooking is not well received by my children, but my husband usually loves it. And I love that. Happy weekend. By the way, what's your favorite thing to cook?

transition
The seasons are in transition, the kids are back at school. Everyone is exhausted from this first week back, me included. Hopefully we'll all settle back in this weekend. Meanwhile I managed to clean my house today, but that's about it. I hope tomorrow I'll feel inspired to take some new pictures and have something to show. If not, I'll be back on Monday, rested up (I hope!).
p.s. this is my dad's woodpile. at least he's prepared for the changing seasons!
