Here's Will's Halloween costume. When I asked him this morning if he was excited for Halloween, he said "I'm as excited as a squirrel with one hundred nuts". Wow! That's pretty excited. Happy Halloween you all. And enjoy the rest of the weekend too.
Here's the first of the new fall bags to come out of my studio. The fabric in the last photo will become more bags soon. I finally updated my website this weekend. It was nice to refresh and simplify. Big thanks to my husband for helping me put it all together!
Here are a few pictures of my parent's house from last weekend. My mom loves strong colors and is constantly playing around with color and texture in her home. The wooden sculpture in the first picture is a portrait of my great-grandmother, carved by my great-grandfather. Apparently, she didn't like it, and used it as a door stop.
Thanks for all your interest in the wool bags. They are looking great and I can't wait to show them to you. I'm hoping to photograph my sample bag today...it looks like the light will be just right for it. Have a great weekend, everyone.
Today I'm working on some bags made from vintage wool. They are big and cozy, and I'm looking forward to showing them to you as soon as I can take a good photo of them. Why is it so hard to photograph bags?
The frost covered everything in the early morning in NH. I couldn't resist running out before breakfast for some photos. We had a relaxing weekend visiting my parents, eating great food, going for a beautiful hike in the woods, and just enjoying the countryside. The weather has turned and it's really cold this morning, even here in the city.
Virginia Johnson has a new look book with lots of beautiful fall coats.
Just a little shop update for today. I've just added these vintage grain sack pillows to my shop. They are soft and simple and I have to admit it's tempting to want to keep them for myself. We're headed north this weekend to spend time with family and check out the amazing fall colors. Wishing you all a nice weekend!
This time of year is always so busy...getting stuff ready for the holiday shows, getting the kids back to school, many activities afterschool and on the weekends. I need to take a deep breath! These pictures help to remind me to breathe.
March Fourth from Portland, Oregon was in town this weekend for the third annual Honk Fest. The band's leader is an old friend of my husband's, so the band bunked at our house for the weekend. It was a spectacular time of amazing music, incredible performances, and fabulous costumes. We danced all day and all night.
Is it really Thursday already? This week flew by. I passed the courtyard above on a walk last week. I'm really interested in how people use outdoor space in the city and I love how this space is a little urban oasis. Wouldn't it be nice to sit and read a book here in the late fall sunshine?
*Thanks for all your nice comments on the postcards! *I found these two paintings at the flea market over the weekend. First one was $2, second one was $10. *I finished knitting a scarf. Now I can't wait to knit another one. *More leaves and a funky window. *Over the weekend, the lovely Karina of El Beso chose some of my photos to illustrate a post on finding things to enjoy in a tough economy. I am so flattered! Thank you, Karina!!
I've just updated my shop with this series of postcards. I hope you like them! This is the first of a series of shop updates, as I'll be adding a few new items every week or so as they come out of my studio. Have a wonderful weekend everyone. And thanks for looking!
I've been spending a lot of time in the kitchen these days. The painting of the pears is by my grandmother, Roasalie. She had it hanging in her kitchen too, and gave it to me when I told her how much I liked it.
I'll have a shop update on Friday. Please check back in for some totally new things!
I'm a designer and seamstress. I make bags and pillows out of vintage and natural fabrics. I'm a mom of two. I like pretty things.
All photos are mine unless otherwise noted. If you would like to use them, just let me know. Thank you!
